30 Apr Success Thinking
If you have had past successes and are accustomed to judging yourself as a successful, happy person, you will find ways to continue this self-image.
If, on the other hand, you have allowed yourself to become infected by one of the symptoms of not having, or living a personalized definition of success, clearly defined goals or a plan for achievement, you will most likely continue to see yourself as unsuccessful and unfulfilled.
If you project failure, you will breed actual failure. These failures will then have you expecting even more failures, and then creating and accepting them.
In your daily, competitive struggles, there is always the possibility of failure and it is fear of failure, which can bring about your most unproductive behavior. But, it is just as easy to tell yourself to succeed and to expect a life of daily successes.
You will have failures, but, use caution and do not get too comfortable with the thought that any of your current, unproductive habits or lack of success can be dumped into someone else’s lap. Even if your past, or current unproductive habits could be blamed on someone else – your daily successes, from this moment on, rest squarely on your shoulders.
‘Failure-thinkers’ believe that a parent, a friend, their boss, a rich uncle, their spouse, or even some governmental agency should be responsible for turning their future into what they want and think they deserve. This type of thinking will not get the job done for you. If you do not take control of your thought patterns and life and shoulder your own responsibilities, who will? NO ONE! Waiting on someone else is not going to help you take complete advantage of your daily sunrise of opportunities.
‘Success-thinkers’ let their positive thinking and willingness to accept the pain in change direct their achievements. People who continuously fail allow their environment and the ‘failure-thinkers’ around them to influence and direct their future. Only YOU can decide what the outcome of your thoughts will be.
If you consider yourself powerless against society’s demands, you probably think that the only way to get what you want is to get or take from another person or group. When you realize that everything you want can be created through your own positive thoughts, habits, and actions, you will be quick to understand that only YOU can give YOU what YOU want.
A wise scribe once wrote, “As one’s thinking is, such one becomes.” We are all the by-product of our individual thoughts. Remaining, or becoming, a ‘success-thinker’ must be built upon a foundation of positive thoughts and habits.
The words you say, the thoughts you think, and the things you do are all by-products of self-suggestion. You can begin a more positive cycle of performance with positive, self-suggestive thinking. When you mentally repeat positive thoughts and respond to them by positive action, over and over, you establish positive, productive habits. By directing your thoughts, you build and control the productive habits that virtually guarantee that you will live your definition of success.
Do not tell me, or others, what you are trying to change, move away from, or eliminate from your life. Instead, tell the world what you are moving toward.
